Subtle differences in the air we breathe

Mouths move, hands wave, bodies pulse

Cell phones clipped tight to the belt

Talk to someone that no one can see

The world flows by you, around you

but never penetrates your outer skin

Say so much, Say so little

Inching forward, bumper to bumper

exit 9a, 9b, 9c, 9d

Spill your coffee, suspend your future,

so extreme!

Do you measure progress with your heart or with a ruler?

Move so much, Move so little

Is your day full of possibilities and wonderment

or is it floating in a pool of mundane routines, shallow faces

roped off in yellow caution tape?

Choose your mood

Select your perspective

It's all an illusion

When you peel back the layers

See so much, See so little

Don't believe in me

Trust in you

Everything fades, nothing's permanent

So don't get attached  to those possessions and accomplishments

Collect so much, Collect so little

There is sun and there is rain

Coexisting in distant hemispheres of our brains

I promise you won't drown

And you certainly won't burn

So don't hide from the sun and run from the rain

Let your fears and emotions evaporate in the clouds overhead

Rain so much, Rain so little

You need very little to stay alive in this world

Take a deep breath, relax

Forget the future, release the past

You need so much to be alive in this world

The difference is so subtle, it's often hard to see

Take notice, become keenly aware

Breathe so much, Breathe so little
